You don’t need a power-belly to compete in strength sports. There is a middle ground to be found between training for aesthetic and training for strength. I’m here to show you where it is.

So many powerlifters, strongmen and other strength athletes end up overweight, feeling lethargic and not getting any stronger relatively. They continue to get bigger until their weight becomes their biggest roadblock.

When you’re part of the IronBar team, we look to bring together nutritional models from bodybuilding and combine them with the high-level programming required for competitive strongman and powerlifting.

  • There are many ways to get the job done. It’s important to us that clients enjoy what they’re doing both in and out the gym - even if that means some delayed gratification for the end goal.

  • Strength truly is the mother of all qualities and therefore the stronger you get, the more efficient you are at getting results in hypertrophy, explosiveness, speed, power and endurance. We put strength at the heart of everything we do.

  • It’s important to us that clients understand and know the reasoning for what they are doing - coaching is not necessarily forever. The skills and habits gained at us can be. Education also allows us to move away from the basics and coach you in elements that are more technical and make the small percentage differences on your end goal.

  • Be a master of the basics. There is no point following an advanced plan if you cannot even follow the basics. You are only as strong as your weakest link. We work with you to ensure your execution across training and lifestyle is on point.

  • Utilising industry-leading software, we’ll set up a specific set of goals from the start of your training block and review accordingly over the time working together by means of key performance indicators. These will be reviewed weekly by your coach to ensure we are making steps towards the end goals.

All IronBar clients - both online coaching clients and 1-2-1 personal training clients - get access to an account on our coaching platform to track progress. All your programs will be planned within the app, with every element detailed, such as grip, tempo, positioning and more. You’ll have the ability to upload videos against every single set and you’ll recieve feedback and commentary on technique and performance via the app too. Anyone working towards body composition goals will also ‘check in’ via the app, tracking KPIs and providing lifestyle information to enable feedback and changes.

About Coach Will

I’ve spent over 10 years developing my education and experience in strength sports such as strongman, powerlifting and bodybuilding. Having worked as an online coach since 2016, I have procured a model that truly helps my clients achieve real results.

I regularly compete in strongman and powerlifting alongside working towards becoming as muscular as possible within my weight class. My ultimate aim is to compete at Britain’s Strongest Man under 120kg and on the world stage with British Powerlifting Union.

From a nutritional and lifestyle perspective I treat myself like a bodybuilder. This is a strategy I look to implement with my clients - to perform better with the added bonus of looking and feeling their best selves.
